Slain rapper AKA real name, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes’ father, Tony, has once again gone on Instagram to share his grief as he continues to mourn his son after laying him to rest on 18 February at Heroes Acres at Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg.
AKA’s love for music started long before he made his big break in the industry. He has since worked with many big names locally and internationally, including Burna Boy, the late HHP, Khuli Chana, Sardkodie, and several more.
But, before he was AKA the rapper, he was Kiernan Jarryd Forbes and Tony’s son.
The South African rap star was shot and killed outside Wish On Florida restaurant in Durban moments before he was supposed to perform at Yugo luxury champagne and tapas social club.
His grieving father took to Instagram on Friday and wrote,
“We learn, and we build, and we grow.”
After seeing Tony’s post, his online followers sympathised with him and sent their condolences.
It is still unknown who was behind AKA’s death and no arrests have been made. However, Minister of Police Bheki Cele reassured fans that they were “cracking the case” and reportedly said that several cell phones from suspects had been retrieved in the ongoing investigation, News24 reported.
