During their court appearance on Tuesday, Thabo Bester and Dr. Nandipha Magudumana engaged in some PDA and laughter.
Thabo Bester and Dr. Nandipha Magudumana, partners in crime, reconnected in the dock on Tuesday, August 8 at the Bloemfontein magistrate’s court.
The pair had not seen one another since being deported from Tanzania after being detained there in April.
Thabo Bester, a murderer and convicted rapist, appeared in court on May 3, 2022, along with Dr. Nandipha and 10 other co-accused people who helped Bester make his daring escape from the Mangaung Correctional Services in Bloemfontein.
When the alleged “Facebook Rapist” showed up in court on Tuesday, he was all grins and wedged himself between his lover and one of the other co-accused.
Since then, videos and images of the couple holding hands, conversing, laughing, and gazing at one other affectionately have gone viral.

At the time of his daring escape, Bester was serving a life sentence for the rape and violent robbery of two women in Durban as well as the murder of his then-girlfriend and saleswoman Nomfundo Tyhulu in Cape Town.
In at least four different provinces, he also conducted a wave of rapes and robberies.
Bester is now being held in the hospital wing of the Kroonstad Correctional Centre in the Free State, while Dr. Nandipha is being held at the Kgosi Mampuru II C-max prison in Pretoria.
Except for Bester, Magudumana, and Zanda Moyo, all of the defendants in the case are free on bond.
Moyo, who is the ninth accuser, Zimbabwean citizen Zanda Moyo was detained in Johannesburg after it was claimed that he helped Dr. Nandipha retrieve the body of Katlego Bareng, the guy who perished in Bester’s cell after the fire last year.
The case has been continued until October 11 to allow for further research.
