Sad scene as pit dogs attack and kill an elderly lady in Bonteheuwel

An elderly lady from Bonteheuwel, Cape Town, was discovered deceased in her backyard. She reportedly died at the hands of pit bull canines.

On Tuesday, March 28, an 88-year-old lady was reportedly mauled to death by canines in Bonteheuwel, Cape Town. Her son discovered the body in her garden.

According to Captain F.C. van Wyk, spokesman for the SAPS, the 88-year-old woman’s corpse was discovered by her son at her house in Bonteheuwel’s Loganberry Street at around 17:00 on Tuesday.

According to reports, Bishop Lavis SAPS officers responded to the site of a pit bull dog assault on a woman. Investigations into the circumstances regarding this fatal event are ongoing, said.

The Bishop Lavis police are investigating an inquest case. A Senior Inspector of the Law Enforcement Animal Control Unit removed the dogs.

“At this stage, no foul play is suspected. Investigation continues,” added the police spokesperson.

Councilman Angus McKenzie of Bonteheuwel Ward recognized the deceased as Mrs. Grill. She was 92 years old, the member said.

The sad event has left McKenzie speechless, and he claims that it cannot and should not make sense.

He wrote on Facebook, “I’ve been up most of the night just trying to make sense of how Mrs. Grill, a 92-year-old woman who had lived a rich, long, and blessed life, had to endure a gruesome, horrific, and tragic death as a result of being mauled to death by [two] pitbull dogs.
