Mitchells Plain Man Allegedly Luring Minors Into Explicit Chat Group Set To Apply For Bail
A 32-year-old resident from Mitchells Plain is set to seek bail following his apprehension for the possession of child por*graphy and potential distribution.

Shannon Manuel is scheduled to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning, where the State intends to contest the bail application, as stated by National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila.
Manuel, along with two other individuals from the Western Cape, was apprehended during a collaborative operation by the SAPS Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) unit and the American Homeland Security Department spanning three days.
Garth van West, 53, whose bail application commenced on Thursday in the Worcester Magistrate’s Court, is to remain in custody until February. Arrested on January 17, Van West was allegedly found in possession of 95,000 images and 6,000 videos depicting child por*graphy, facing charges related to accessing, distributing, and possessing such material.
On Tuesday, Corné van Rooyen, 40, from Kraaifontein, is expected to pursue a bail application. Beyond child por*graphy charges, Van Rooyen faces accusations of unlawfully keeping animals without a permit and being in possession of illegal firearms.
