Eskom fraud suspects granted bail

Law enforcement authorities continue to crack down on fraudulent dealings within embattled power utility Eskom.

Four suspects have been released on bail after appearing before Witbank Magistrate’s Court.

They stand accused of defrauding Eskom of about R4.9 million.

Among the accused is Nozipho Ntuli, who worked at the Duvha power station as a buyer.

Ntuli allegedly awarded contracts without following due processes between 2016 and 2019. Some of the companies awarded the contracts in question belonged to her boyfriend.

The arrests were made following the conclusion of a probe by the

Hawks’ Serious Corruption and Serious Commercial Crimes team.
