The last surviving member of Big Nuz, Danger, has revealed his last moments with Mampintsha before his untimely death on Saturday.
Mandlenkosi Maphumulo, popularly known as Mampintsha, passed away on 24 December in a hospital in Durban after suffering a second stroke. He had the first minor stroke the previous weekend after coming from a show.
He was 40.
Mampintsha’s former manager Lindokuhle Buthelezi, also known as Dogg Dbn, told EWN that the Umlilo hitmaker kept getting worse in the week after the initial stroke. Mampintsha was diabetic.
The last surviving member of Big Nuz, Mzi Tshomela, popularly known as Danger, has revealed his last moment with Mampintsha before he died on Saturday.
Danger said he last spoke to Mampintsha on 22 December in hospital, and he had lost his voice following his stroke. Mampintsha reportedly asked the nurse if his voice would come back so he would return to singing again on stage.
The attending nurse then told him that he needed to recover first, then he could go back to the studio and make music again.

Big Nuz, which consisted of Mampintsha, R Mashesha, and Danger, was founded in 2002 in Umlazi. They came up with the name “Nuz” for the group because “NUZ” is the prefix on all vehicle license plates in Umlazi.
R Mashesha died in August 2015, and with Mampintsha now dead, Danger is all that is left of Big Nuz.
Danger spoke to SABC News and is in extreme pain following Mampintsha’s demise.
“I’m not good right now because Mampintsha was my brother from Yeoville to here in Durban. I’m not good for now. I can’t even speak. I am not coping. I am not feeling well because I lost R-Mashesha; now it is Mampintsha. It is not good. I’ll miss everything about him, dance, music, food, everything about him.”
