Khune, the renowned Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, has a massive fan base, and many of his supporters did not take kindly to Minnie’s apparent astonishment.
Critics labeled her a bitter ex and drew comparisons between Khune’s enduring soccer career and Minnie’s marriage to Quinton Jones.
Responding to the backlash, Minnie Dlamini swiftly clarified her remarks, insisting that it was all in good fun and that there is no animosity between her and Khune.
She explained that the comments made on her show were meant to be light-hearted, emphasizing that her writers often poke fun at various topics, including herself.
Minnie assured the public that there was no malicious intent behind her remarks and that it was all part of the entertainment value of the show.
“People must not take things seriously; it was all a joke. There is no bad blood between him and me,” Minnie declared.
She went on to reveal that her show’s writers make fun of anything and anyone, including herself.
“No man, it was just a joke. I have a comedian who writes my opening monologue for the show. They make fun of me mostly and what’s going on in society. It’s all in the name of fun and entertainment. No malice at all,” she added.
Minnie Dlamini and Itumeleng Khune were in a relationship back in 2011, but they called off their engagement around 2014.
In previous interviews, Minnie has openly discussed her past relationship with Khune, revealing her initial hesitations about ending the connection due to concerns about public perception.
She also vehemently denied rumors that Khune had paid lobola (bride price) for her, terming it a misconception that she strongly disliked.
Itumeleng Khune has since moved on and married Sphelele Makhunga in a traditional wedding ceremony in June 2022. The couple now shares two children together, marking a new chapter in Khune’s personal life separate from his celebrated soccer career.
