It has been a full day since the country has been coming to terms with the untimely passing of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and friend and former manager Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. The two friends and industry tastemakers were reported as late in the late night of Friday, 10 February 2023.
The news about their tragic passing is alleged to have been as a result of two armed men who shot at AKA and Tibz at close range six times. Following the arrival of the paramedics, both AKA and Tibz were pronounced dead on the spot. While most social media users have tried to circulate the video which obstructed the body of the slain rapper, there are those that have circulated the video of AKA’s lifeless body.
While his parents, Lynn and Tony Forbes were behind the confirmation statement which was released in the early hours of today. It seems that Lynn Forbes could not deal with the public.
This is as AKA’s father, brother, manager and some of his friends and music colleagues all went to Wish, the restaurant where the rapper was gunned down. It seemed that the family was looking for answers, and the establishment has confirmed working closely with the SAPS to have the matter of AKA’s killing resolved.
Moreover, friends, family and fans of the rapper have been gathering at the site of the legend’s passing in order to pay their respects. This includes the likes of DreamTeam who also visited the site and laid flowers on the site where he took his last breath.
While it seems that men of the Forbes family are currently in Durban in an attempt to find answers. DJ Zinhle, who shares daughter Kairo Forbes with AKA, seems to have taken the helm in Johannesburg as plans need to be made in terms of the funeral arrangements and memorial service.
DJ Zinhle arriving with “brother” Oskido were seen arriving at AKA’s Johannesburg complex. But more than just DJ Zinhe, her brothers, sisters and the Era by DJ ZInhle team were all recorded arriving at AKA’s private residency. Other ZAlebs include Kabelo Mabalane.
As such, it is assumed that DJ Zinhle is currently helping the Forbes family deal with the arrangements. This is as DJ ZInhle and AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, have always had a strong relationship since DJ Zinhle was pregnant with Kairo. Not only did Lynn or Glammy stay with Zinhle during the first few years of Kairo’s birth.
But to date, the two have a strong relationship. As such, it is no surprise that the family trusts Zinhle with so much given that her and AKA have been co-parents and Zinhle is traditionally married to her husband Bongani Mohosana.
