Award-winning rapper Kiernan Jarred Forbes popularly known as AKA tragically died in a hail of bullets during a drive-by shooting in Florida Road, Durban, on Friday night
Durban police has confirmed the death of the 35-year-old rapper on the scene.

According IOL, AKA was reportedly standing outside Wish Restaurant at about 22:00 when two unknown vehicles opened fire on him. The rapper is said to have been hit six times. His close friend Tebello Tibz Motsoane who was with him at the time, was also shot and killed while his bodyguard has been wounded.
AKA was due to perform at a Durban night club, YUGO, where he was expected to perform as part of his birthday celebrations.

The hip-hop artist rose to fame in 2009 with hits such as Mistakes, In My Walk, and Do It. He won Metro FM awards for Best New Comer, Best Hip Hop and Best Produced Album for his debut Altar Ego.
AKA’s fourth studio album, Mass Country, was set for release on 24 February 2023..
AKA’s first single off the hotly anticipated album, Lemons (Lemonade), went gold in September last year. This was followed by Paradise with Musa Keys and Ghanaian singer Gyakie in November.
Prada, featuring Motswako rapper Khuli Chana, was the latest track from the upcoming album to have been released to great acclaim.
