Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, claimed that many banks in South Africa had discriminated against him and his son after they were denied accounts.
On Wednesday, August 2, the EFF leader made the accusation during a news conference.
Just a few days ago, the divisive politician courted controversy by singing the divisive battle hymn.
Malema said in his speech that banks including FNB and Absa had terminated his accounts, ostensibly because of his last name.
But while he was not surprised at the action taken against him, he was concerned for his son.
He said: “My son’s bank [account] is being declined. He is 17 years old, he hasn’t done anything to anyone, but he can’t get a bank account.
“We are being bullied by banks in South Africa.
“We need to mobilize South Africans against these banks and physical action. Their day will come”.
