KING Misuzulu and the Zulu royal house are mourning the passing of Princess Alice Zulu, the daughter of King Solomon kaDinuzulu.
Princess Alice was residing at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace in Nongoma, north of KZN.
The news of Princess Alice’s passing was announced by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
“It is with great sorrow that I convey to the nation the passing of her Royal Highness Princess Alice. His majesty, King Misuzulu, has received the news with tremendous sadness. Our thoughts and prayers are with his majesty and the royal family in this painful time. Details of Prince Alice’s funeral are yet to be finalised,” he said.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended his condolences to the royal family in a media statement released on Monday, 20 February.
“Princess Alice is the sister to the late King Bhekuzulu kaSolomon, who succeeded King Solomon kaDinuzulu as the Zulu king from 1948 until his death in 1968.
On behalf of the government and the people of South Africa, President Ramaphosa extends his prayers and thoughts to the Zulu royal family and the Zulu nation for the loss,” Ramaphosa said in the statement.
