Rapper Refiloe “Cassper Nyovest” Phoolo revealed on Twitter on Tuesday that he won’t be able to attend musician Kiernan “AKA” Forbes’ memorial and funeral services as he has other commitments.
North West-born rapper Cassper Nyovest said he’ll be out of the country for work and won’t be able to attend Kiernan ”AKA” Forbes memorial and funeral service when a follower asked him ‘@casspernyovest you pullin’ up at the memorial?’ and he replied:
“Unfortunately I’ll be out of the country for work but if I was around I would’ve went. I would’ve went to the funeral too. No matter how you look at it, me and Kiernan shared a lot of great moments together and he contributed to my industry so I have to pay my respects.”
AKA’s memorial service will be held on Friday, 17 February 2023 at 15:00 at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Limited free tickets to the memorial are available on WebTickets.
The rapper will be laid to rest on Saturday, 18 February in a private ceremony.
Taking to Twitter, AKA’s family released a statement sharing details of the funeral and memorial service which, unlike the funeral, will be open to the public.
The family’s statement also thanked DJ Zinhle’s “husband” Murdah Bongz’s (Bongani Mohosana) for the support and revealed he will not be present at the funeral due to observing cultural protocol.
