Suspect in Pule murder case reveals accomplice was “known to her”

31-year old Muzukayise Malephane, who has appeared in court for the gruesome murder of Tshegofatso Pule, has allegedly revealed to police how he planned and executed the murder of Pule with the help of someone known to her.

According to a police statement seen by The Sowetan, the man who appeared in court told police that he was promised R70 000 for the murder of Pule, who was eight months pregnant.

The murder suspect, Muzukayise Malaphane (31), allegedly planned Pule’s murder for some time and had tried killing her a month ago but failed.

Malephane revealed that the murder was planned by him and an accomplice who promised him R70 000. Police are yet to arrest the second suspect.

New information on the murder has also come to light. News24 reported that CCTV footage shows Pule leaving her boyfriend’s complex in Florida in a grey Jeep after reportedly fighting with him.

In last month’s failed attempt to kill Pule, Malephane revealed that the second suspect set up a false interview in Mondeor, Johannesburg, where she was supposed to be kidnapped and killed.

Pule did not show up for the fake interview, thus saving her life, if only for another month. Malephane revealed that they then set up another plan.

“On the day of her murder [4 June], both suspects arranged an Uber ride for the victim to be picked up [and taken] to a flat in Florida,” the statement read.
The statement said that the two suspects started an argument with Pule and the other party then took out a sharp object and carried out the horrific murder of the mother-to-be.

Malephane allegedly confessed to police and also pointed out the crime scene. He appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Malephane was arrested while returning from Mpumalanga on Monday.

TimesLIVE reported that the second suspect, a 31-year old businessman and JSE analyst Ntuthuko Shoba, is allegedly to be father of Pule’s unborn child.
