It is with great sadness that we report to you the passing of one of the country’s members of parliament (MP) Nomvuzo Shabalala. Former Durban deputy mayor Nomzuvo Shabalala died on Saturday of a Covid-19 related illness, parliament confirmed.
Since the inception of the deadly Covid-19 virus in Wuhan China, many people have lost their lives. When it landed in South Africa earlier this year, more and more people continued to succumb to the virus.
Infection numbers are growing day by day. The lockdown has tried to reduce the spread, however numbers continue to grow.
After leaving the Durban municipality, Shabalala became a Member of Parliament where she joined the portfolio committee on Education. She will be dearly missed by her colleagues, friends and family.
Already National Assembly speaker Thandi Modise and National Council of Provinces chair Amos Masondo have sent their deepest condolences to the family.
We send our condolences to the Shabalala family. Our prayers and thoughts are with you as you face the dark cloud over you.
