Reasons why Kaizer Chiefs will beat Orlando pirates today

(opinion)

Reasons why Kaizer chiefs will beat their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates this afternoon when they meet for the first time in the 2020/21 season.

Some people might think Kaizer chiefs will be the underdogs but that is not true.

What a way to end the month of October, Kaizer chiefs will lock horns with the high flying Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 first leg competition today at 15:00 in the Orlando Stadium. It is not a secret that Orlando Pirates have been struggling to keep up with the Glamour Boys in the past few games. Here are the main reasons why Kaizer chiefs will win:

1. Goal droughts at Orlando

Orlando Pirates have not scored more than one goal eleven games except the 2 – 1 win against SuperSport United, while Kaizer chiefs have not had that much problem when it comes to converting their chances.

2. Head to head

Last season, Kaizer chiefs managed to beat Orlando Pirates three times. Kaizer chiefs kicked out Orlando Pirates in the Telkom knockout tournament last season, and also managed to win both home and away games in the Absa Premiership.

3. Overall performance

The two clubs have met 47 times, Kaizer chiefs won 15 of those matches while Orlando Pirates only won 13, 19 games ended as draws. However, Orlando Pirates has scored more goals.

4. Being the underdogs

Coming to this game with the win and a great performance against Chippa United, Kaizer chiefs will be coming to tonight’s game with high confidence while Pirates are yet to win a game this season.

5. Young blood in the team

Kaizer Chiefs’ young players have been outstanding in the past few games, and the return of Mathoho, Zuma and Mole will make things much easier for the club. However, Samir Nurkovic will remain the missing link.

Not having Samir Nurkovic will not be that issue though as the likes of Leo Castro, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Daniel Cardoso are in form and Kaizer chiefs depends more on set pieces.
