Mamelodi Sundowns set to sign two overseas-based players
Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe confirmed on Thursday that the club is in the market for new signings ahead of the coming season.
The defending league champions went into the break just four points behind log leaders and will look to claim a third straight title if action resumes in the coming weeks.
Having secured the services of coach Pitso Mosimane, as well as two players who signed for next season, Motsepe says the backroom staff is hard at work to add to the squad, with two of the club’s transfer targets based outside South Africa.
“Yugesh [Singh] has done excellently, so has Kenneth [Makhanya], so has Sizwe [Ndimande] and the rest of the technical team,” Motsepe said during a media briefing on Thursday. “All of the players who are part of our plans for the future, we feel comfortable the good work has been done. Part of the challenge is that two of the players we are chasing are not in South Africa.”
Sundowns will welcome veteran midfielder George Maluleka in the coming season after the player signed a pre-contract from Kaizer Chiefs earlier in the year. Another player set to join the Brazilians is highly-rated young midfielder Grant Margeman, who the club had been courting from first-division outfit Ajax Cape Town.
