Makhadzi Shares Heartbreak of Spending Valentine’s Day Alone

Limpopo-born musician Makhadzi recently shared her feelings of heartbreak after spending Valentine’s Day alone.

While many celebrities showcased their romantic celebrations on social media, Makhadzi expressed the pain of being single and observing others enjoying the day of love.

The “Amatorokisi” hitmaker took to Facebook to express her emotions. “Today, I felt the real pain of being single. It’s painful to watch other ladies getting flowers, guys jealous down. I am sitting alone at the restaurant and only seeing people kissing each other. I want to cry she,” she wrote.

Makhadzi’s post resonated with many of her fans, who offered words of comfort and support. Some inquired about her relationship status with ex-boyfriend and fellow musician Master KG, from whom she confirmed her split in 2021, though rumors of a rekindled romance have persisted.

Fans offered various perspectives. Millicent Gwazane encouraged her, writing, “Single, it’s a calling, Makhadzi. You are at peace, you have your money, and you manage to take yourself to the restaurant. Other ladies failed to do that for themselves.” Stevie Ceth Kamwana Ste offered another viewpoint: “Just thank God you have life without stress… a lot of people are dying inside because of the thing called love.” Meble Milazi Meble directly asked, “Where is your master KG?” while Kay Key Dubs reassured her, “Your time is coming, don’t rush. God has a plan for you.”

Makhadzi isn’t the only celebrity who publicly shared their experience of Valentine’s Day solitude. Rachel Kolisi, who announced her divorce from Springbok captain Siya Kolisi in October 2024, also spoke about spending the day alone. The mother of four shared her emotional journey on social media, reflecting on the challenges of parenting during a difficult time and navigating life after separation.

“We do love every day anyway. But this Valentine’s Day I made a brave decision and it broke my heart all over again. Parenting when the world feels like it’s crumbling around you is a different kind of challenge. And one I hope I’ll never have to experience at this level again,” Kolisi wrote. She also expressed gratitude for the support she received from a few close friends during the week. “Never been more grateful for the very few who showed up to support and lean in this week, specially. One day at a time felt too big this week, so I just did one hour at a time and it kinda helped – I made it to Saturday! ❤️,” she shared.

Makhadzi’s post, while highlighting her loneliness, also showcased the strength of her support system. Her fans’ encouragement served as a reminder of her accomplishments and inner strength. Despite personal challenges, Makhadzi has continued to thrive professionally, remaining a beloved musician in South Africa known for her powerful voice and energetic performances. Her fans remain optimistic that love and happiness will find her in time.

Both Makhadzi and Rachel Kolisi’s stories illustrate the complexities of love, heartbreak, and healing. While Valentine’s Day can be a joyous occasion for some, it can also be a painful reminder of lost love or unfulfilled dreams for others. Makhadzi’s candidness and Kolisi’s resilience highlight the power of sharing personal struggles. By opening up, they not only find comfort within their communities but also inspire others facing similar challenges. For Makhadzi, her fans’ unwavering support underscores the love she receives for her artistry and strength, and many are confident that brighter days lie ahead for the popular singer.
