Lady Du’s King Misuzulu honour.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Lady Du said: “This song is my little offering to the Zulu king and his subjects. “My contribution to this song will go down in history even when I’m no longer here.
Amapiano queen Lady Du has joined a long list of artists who will honour King Misuzulu with a song. The name of the song is Bayede Misuzulu and it will be released on 31 May.
“I am exceptionally grateful for this opportunity because I respect culture, tradition and our African history. For me, this is not just about music and entertainment, but it is another way of telling and preserving our African stories.” Lady Du will join the likes of gqom artist Dladla Mshunqisi, maskandi artists Phuzekhemisi, Mbuzeni Mkhize, Ihash’elimhlophe, kwaito artist Nkiyase and gospel artist Takie Ndou, who are also collaborating on the song.
One of the co-ordinators of the song, Professor Musa Xulu, said: “This an advocacy song for the Zulu king and it is made up of different genres. The song is nine minutes long. We’re hoping these artists will perform it for the first time on the day of the king’s coronation.”
Xulu said King Misuzulu has sampled the song and was happy with it. King Misizulu’s spokesman, Prince Thulani Zulu, said: “King Misuzulu is aware of the song and he is happy with it. His hope is that it will bring peace in the royal household.”
