King Monada’s Future Hangs in Balance Amid Jail Risks

The Ritavi Magistrate’s Court will hear testimony from musician King Monada on a disagreement with a music promoter that dates back to 2022.

King Monada, also known as Khutso Steven Kgatla, and Mphoza Mashabela, the person who organizes the Limpopo Legends Awards, are at odds.

The dispute revolves around allegations that the performer declined to reimburse booking fees following two instances in which they did not show up for the awards event.

On September 2, there will be a fight between King Monada and Mphoza Mashabela at the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court in Nkowankowa, Tzaneen.

Why King Monada Is Appearing In Court

The organizers of the Limpopo Legends Awards dragged King Monada to court for failing to show up at the ceremony in both 2022 and 2023. The musician, who was paid R35,000, is now facing legal action for not fulfilling his commitments.

Mphoza told TshisaLIVE:

“This is a straightforward matter because I paid him, and [he] never pitched. I then gave him a second chance, and [he] still didn’t pitch, so he left me with no choice but to go to court and demand my money from him. What this guy did to me broke my heart, as my reputation as an organiser was tainted by his unprofessionalism.

“He isn’t my enemy. I just want my money back. I can no longer chase him because I need to clear my name of the madness he created by not pitching at the ceremony. That’s not how we do business, and I have fans who attend my events, including the Limpopo Legends Awards. I’m happy the court date is here. I’ll meet him in court.”

“What I like most is Monada will appear in court. The guy doesn’t respect my brand. He doesn’t want to pay me but has money to hire an attorney to defend his nonsense. I wonder what they will defend? He thinks he’s powerful. We are waiting for our court date,” he said.
