Johannesburg Businessman Faces Financial Ruin as Wife Files for Divorce Over Infidelity

A Johannesburg businessman and philanthropist is facing significant financial repercussions following his wife’s divorce filing, which cites his infidelity and “intimate relationships with prostitutes.”

The couple, who have been married for over eight years under community property, are now tasked with dividing their multi-million rand assets, including a R13 million Sandton mansion.

The divorce papers, filed at the Johannesburg High Court, reveal allegations of ongoing infidelity and the husband’s preference for extramarital affairs over family responsibilities.

The wife seeks R400,000 annually in spousal maintenance to fund holidays with their child and R25,000 monthly in child support for their three-year-old daughter.

In addition, she claims the husband has been controlling and demeaning, behaving like a single man despite their legal marriage. The businessman may lose his luxury cars, a Porsche and a BMW, valued at R8 million, as part of the settlement.

The wife has limited knowledge of her husband’s full financial situation and is seeking detailed disclosures of his assets and liabilities.

The couple will share custody of their daughter, who will live with the wife in the mansion, while the husband will need to find new housing.

A parenting plan outlines his visitation rights, allowing him to see their daughter for four hours on Tuesday afternoons.
