Police in Mondlo have arrested four suspects in connection with the theft of cattle, following a successful operation in the Madresini area.
The suspects were apprehended after officers discovered the carcasses of four stolen cattle, which had been reported missing from a kraal in the Mvunzini area on Thursday, 28 November 2024.
A team comprising Crime Prevention and Community Service Centre officers, along with detectives, launched an intensive operation shortly after the theft was reported.
Acting on intelligence, the team focused their efforts in Madresini, where they recovered the carcasses. The cattle were positively identified as those stolen from the Mvunzini kraal.

Three suspects, aged 27, 38, and 39, were arrested at the scene. A fourth individual was later apprehended as investigations progressed.
Police have confirmed that the operation was part of a broader initiative to address the growing problem of stock theft in the region, which poses significant economic and social challenges to local farming communities.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon, facing charges related to stock theft. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling such crimes and have urged community members to report suspicious activities promptly.
“Stock theft remains a serious issue, and the arrest of these individuals is a testament to the dedication of our officers and the importance of community cooperation,” a police spokesperson said.
