The late DJ Sumbody, a beloved figure in South Africa’s music scene, will be commemorated with the posthumous release of his final track, “Somebody Nice,” featuring artists Murumba Pitch and Junior Taurus.
Set to drop on November 15, this song serves as a tribute to the influential DJ, who was tragically murdered in November 2022.
DJ Sumbody, born Oupa Sefoka, left an indelible mark with chart-topping hits like “Ayepyep” and “Monate Mpolaye,” which featured high-profile collaborators such as Thebe and Cassper Nyovest.
Known as the “Mayor of Tshwane,” DJ Sumbody’s influence extended beyond music, as he also co-owned the popular Ayepyep Lifestyle venues in Menlyn, Tshwane, and Cape Town—well-known spots that reflected his passion for music, culture, and community.
In an interview with Daily Sun, DJ Sumbody’s friend and collaborator Junior Taurus, whose real name is Tshepo Mosidi, shared the poignant story behind “Somebody Nice.”

Junior Taurus emphasized that the song’s release is not just a new single but a celebration of DJ Sumbody’s enduring legacy. “Even though he’s no longer with us, we wanted to remember him through his music,” he said, noting how the DJ’s work has left a lasting impact on South African culture.
