Corruption Crusader Sizwe Nyambi Shot in Shocking Attack Over Water Crisis Revelations

Sizwe Nyambi, a politician from the African National Congress (ANC) and vocal advocate, is in critical condition after being shot multiple times following his accusations against Nkomazi municipal officials.

He alleged that they were conspiring to sabotage the local water system.

The shooting took place outside Nyambi’s home in Schoemansdal, Mpumalanga, on Tuesday evening, shortly after he had aired his grievances on Facebook regarding the area’s water crisis.

In the video, Nyambi criticized what he called the “water mafia” and certain municipal workers, whom he blamed for the water shortages.

“We have a serious problem with the water supply in Nkomazi,” Nyambi said in the video.

It is suspected that this alleged collusion involves private water tanker services being hired to supply residents with water.

Nyambi is widely known for speaking out against the government’s failures, ranging from job shortages and lack of business opportunities to poor service delivery.

“Ever since the municipality decided to reduce overtime hours, staff have allegedly conspired to withhold water from us, the residents of Nkomazi,” he added.

A source revealed that Nyambi had been under scrutiny after previously exposing a sex-for-jobs scandal.

“He’s been trying to bring corruption to light, and now they’re trying to silence him, which led to the shooting,” the source stated.

Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli confirmed the incident but could not comment on the possible motive. According to Mdhluli, Nyambi was shot as he stepped out of his car to open his gate, when an assailant in a black jersey and white hat approached and fired.

Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
