Brookside Mall set alight by protesters, more Job losses
On Monday morning, Brookside Mall a shopping centre that is situated alongside the N3 freeway was looted and set alight.
In videos that have gone viral, looters could be seen stealing large TV’s and transporting them with trollies on the streets.
Trucks that were transporting goods on the N3 towards KwaZulu Natal were also burnt over the weekend and Umlazi Square Mall in KwaZulu-Natal, Naledi mall in Vosloorus as well as Dobsonville Mall in Soweto, and Alexandra mall were some of the malls identified to have been looted on Sunday.
Brookside Mall, a fairly new shopping complex, in Pietermaritzburg has gone up in flames this morning. The mall is situated alongside the N3 freeway as it passes through PMB. The city, which is situated in a valley, is being engulfed by smoke.
