The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (GS/OAS) have partnered to provide the esteemed 2024 OAS-UTEP PAEC Scholarship, which is intended to assist deserving graduate students from the Americas.
The purpose of this award is to help recipients further their education while also advancing the development of their native nations.
Applications close on September 13, 2024, for Fall 2024 consideration.
The OAS-UTEP PAEC Scholarship is a collaborative effort between the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (GS/OAS) and the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) to support outstanding graduate students from the Americas. The scholarship provides financial assistance and tuition waivers to selected recipients.

Applicants must be admitted or registered for the Fall 2024 semester at UTEP and classified as international students. They must hold a passport or maintain legal residence in an OAS member state, including countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and many others. Current OAS Scholarship recipients, GS/OAS staff and their immediate family members, and GS/OAS consultants are not eligible.
Applicants are evaluated based on:
- Geographic distribution, with a focus on the needs of the OAS Member States.
- Academic profile, merit, and credentials.
- The applicant’s potential impact on the completion of the study program.
Citizens or legal residents of OAS Member States, including Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and others.
OAS will provide a one-time supplementary amount of USD 2,000 to support tuition and fees during the first year. UTEP will offer recipients available tuition waivers.
The application process for the OAS-UTEP PAEC Scholarship is straightforward.
- Admission to UTEP: Interested students must first secure admission to a graduate program at UTEP for the Fall 2024 semester.
