16 stolen sheep found in Quantum

OPERATION Paseka has resulted in the arrest of three men for possession of 16 suspected stolen sheep.

Cops were conducting patrols along the R510 in Northam, Rustenburg on Thursday, 6 April when they spotted a suspicious Toyota Quantum with tinted windows.

The taxi was stopped for a search that resulted in the discovery of 16 sheep worth R48 000.

Police spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani said three occupants aged 20, 36 and 59 were arrested after failing to give a proper account of the sheep.

The sheep were later positively linked to a case of stock theft in Northam, Limpopo Province.

“Investigations into the matter including the tracing of the fourth suspect who managed to evade the arrest, are underway,” she said.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Bafokeng Magistrates Court in Tlhabane on Tuesday, 11 April.
